Modelling long wheelbase mineral wagons

There are now some ready to run models and kits of various mineral wagons, these models were produced to add variety to long rakes and also to provide some unusual one-off types for inclusion in general goods trains.

The information is presented as a set of pictures, these will take a while to download, to save any one of these right click on the required picture and select 'save picture as'. The pictures can then easily be printed for reference.


Modelling side and end doors used on BR era metal bodied mineral wagons.

Basic construction of metal bodies for mineral wagons. Bodies built in this way can be used with the Parkside Dundas 12 foot wheelbase chassis or with a chassis based on the Peco 15 foot wheelbase chassis kit.

Modelling a BR 24.5 ton mineral wagon with no side doors. Runs with the more common Parkside Dundas kit type.

Modelling an 1930s ex private owner 21 ton mineral wagon with no side doors. Suitable for layouts set between the early 1930s and later 1970s. Parkside Dundas chassis or modified Peco chassis if the GWR 'DC' brake is required.
